Less known nowadays to skiers outside of France than some of other French resorts, Megeve is nevertheless one of the iconic skiing destinations in France, originally developed in the 1920s by Rothschilds family in response to a growing popularity of St Moritz in nearby Switzerland. Its popularity peaked in 1950s when it was frequented by numerous celebrities and royalties. Although the resorts of Les Trois Vallees, Courchevel in particular, long took over the crown of the most luxurious ski resort in French Alps, Megeve still continues to attract rich Parisians and old money in general.
Megeve’s ski area blends seamlessly with that of its neighbors Combloux, St-Gervais, and Saint-Nicolas de Veroce, which are covered by Domaine Evasion Mont-Blanc combined lift pass. With numerous easy and scenic slopes, Megeve is hard to beat on a sunny day and crossing over to Combloux side is rewarding with stunning landscapes of nearby Mont Blanc.
There are several areas that suit beginners, while several ski schools offer group lessons in Megeve Rochebrune, Combloux areas. Megeve is also perfectly suited for any intermediate level skier or snowboarder - with private instructors and group lessons for both adults and children.
